Growth Log

The numbers I watch.

A playbook of the metrics that decide early-stage growth, and a log of every tool as it ships.

(a) Metrics playbook

What it is, when it matters, what moves it.

Pipeline coverage

What it is
Total value of qualified open pipeline divided by the revenue target for the same period. It tells you whether there is enough in the funnel to hit the number before the quarter starts.
Stage it matters at
Pre-seed to Series A, once there is a repeatable outbound motion and a revenue target to measure against.
Lever that moves it
More qualified contacts at the top of the funnel, spread across parallel pipelines instead of one channel.
Where I used it
For a Toronto founder: a $1.47M CAD prospect pipeline built from 2,314 contacts across 9 B2B pipelines in 90 days.

Retention

What it is
The share of clients still active at the end of a period compared with the start. Growth that leaks out the bottom has to be won twice.
Stage it matters at
After first product-market fit, when growth depends on compounding the existing base rather than replacing it.
Lever that moves it
A reliable supply side. When the partner network delivers consistently, clients stay.
Where I used it
At CampK12: a 400+ person supply network across the US, UAE and India, with 90%+ client retention.

Quota attainment

What it is
Deals closed divided by the target for the period. It is the simplest honest read on whether the sales motion works.
Stage it matters at
Any stage with a sales target, most useful once a team is committing to a number every month or quarter.
Lever that moves it
Targeted B2B outreach to the buyers who already have the need, with hiring used as the lever that fills the funnel.
Where I used it
At Navgurukul: 31 closed against a target of 25, which is 124% of quota, through B2B employer outreach.

(b) Build log

Newest first.

  1. Cold Outreach Personalizer

Outbound stalls when every prospect gets the same email. A batch of prospects goes in, a tailored 3-touch sequence comes out for each one, so reply rates are not capped by how long personalization takes.

    Build time: 1h 40m

  2. Investor Update Drafter

Founders skip investor updates when the numbers are messy, and investors lose the thread. Raw metrics and bullets go in, a clean update comes out with a numeric sanity check built in.

    Build time: 14m

  3. Automation Priority Sorter

Early teams automate whatever is loudest, not whatever frees the most time for growth work. Submit a manual pain point, it gets scored in real time and ranked in a shared backlog.

    Build time: about 1h
